ANA DALTCHEV
Born 1926 in Sofia, Bulgaria, Ana Daltchev graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts (Higher Institute of Visual Arts) in 1953 with a major in Sculpture. Since 1979, she has been living and working in the USA.
She exhibited with numerous galleries throughout Europe, including Oharpentier in Paris and Pagani in Milan. Ana has been commissioned to execute several monumental sculptures for public places. Her works were accepted in several World Exhibitions of Sculpture, including The Biannual of Small Sculpture in Budapest, The Middleheim Biannual in Antwerpen, Belgium, The Pagani Biannual in Milan, Italy. Ana Daltchev's work can be found in numerous private and public collections around the world, including that of Dr. Kirshlager, former president of Austria and former first lady Barbara Bush.
Ana works in bronze and ceramics to create stylized feminine figures full of tenderness and grace. An archetypol sense of the feminine emerges from her pieces. The forms are well-built, dense and deeply synthesized. Her surfaces are clean, freely passing across the forms.
