MONOTYPE WORKSHOP AT EVELYN KLEIN'S STUDIO
Monotype Techniques & Softground
Advanced Printmaking Weekend Workshop Saturday/Sunday, January 26th and 27th 2008 9:00 - 5:00 PM
Softground Etching Imprints from fabric or other textured materials can be created with this technique. To do this, the artist applies a varnish that is rendered more adhesive by adding tallow. The desired material is then placed on the varnished plate, and pressure applied so the varnish detaches from the metal and sticks to the material's relief. The printmaker may then dip the plate in the bath, where the acid etches the exposed imprint marks. When inked, this imprint appears in positive form.
Artists with basic knowledge of printmaking are welcome to attend this intensive two day workshop exploring monotype and softground techniques. This mixed-media print workshop is the second in a series integrating various printmaking techniques as well as digital media, transfers, chine colle, etc...
Limited space available: 8 artists. Classes are kept small, in order to give maximized individual attention.
